Jean Gilbert

Jean joined Raffa’s Managed Accounting Services in 2006, helping to build one of the fastest growing areas of the firm. She works with over 100 staff accountants providing outsourced and accounting services to over 200 clients. Her team conducts financial and operational risk assessments, evaluates internal controls, makes efficiency recommendations, serves as the back office accounting staff, and provides expert support for spin-offs, mergers, and dissolutions. Her clients have included the Aspen Institute, American Association of University Women, Children’s National Medical Center, GAVI Alliance, IREX, International Executive Service Corps., Trout Unlimited, and Wounded Warrior Project.

Jean’s contributions to the profession include serving on the AICPA Not-for-profit Conference Steering Committee for six years. Gilbert co-chairs the Nonprofit & Higher Education Special Interest Group of Prime Global, an association of independent accounting firms. She has contributed to the Standards of Accounting and Financial Reporting for Voluntary Health and Welfare Organizations (The Black Book). She is also a member of the board and treasurer for Wilderness, Leadership, & Learning (WILL) and is a volunteer for City Dogs Rescue.

Before joining Raffa, Jean was the Director of Finance for an international nonprofit where she managed multinational operations.  She also designed and conducted a national benchmarking study which evaluated demographic data and the distribution of the non-profit’s resources to determine whether mission and goals were being accomplished.  In previous positions, she designed automated systems for handling publication ordering, meeting registration, billing and accounting; and conducted and published studies on the philanthropic community.

Jean is a licensed CPA in the state of Maryland and graduated cum laude from Columbia Union College, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Tom is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Raffa, which he established specifically to service the needs of the nonprofit community.
